Three sizes of our mosquito repellent concentration.

Is Mosquito Magician Safe?

Founded to solve a personal mosquito vendetta, Mosquito Magician has been helping customers safely keep mosquitoes at bay since 2012.

A top priority for our founder was to create an effective mosquito-repellent formula that wouldn’t harm people, pets, or wildlife including birds and fish. That’s how Mosquito Magician was born.

Is Mosquito Magician Safe?

Put simply, yes. Mosquito Magician is safe for humans (including children), pets, koi fish, and the environment.

After spraying your yard with Mosquito Magician, you don’t have to worry about letting your dog out or having your kids play in the yard. You can also have peace of mind knowing you aren’t putting harmful chemicals into the environment that will affect beneficial wildlife or groundwater.

Mosquito Magician’s Natural Ingredients

Our Mosquito Magician formula consists of six natural ingredients — that’s it. No harsh chemicals. No ingredients that are so long they are only known by their acronyms. No ingredients with numbers in them.

We use essential oils, which are concentrated oils from plants, that are well known for their ability to repel and kill insects.

Cedar

The oil that cedar produces is toxic to many insects like ticks, fleas, and fire ants. It can kill these insects if they ingest cedar oil or even just come in contact with it.

Citronella

Most citronella candles aren’t actually effective at repelling insects like mosquitoes. However, citronella is proven to work well in higher concentrations — especially when its oils are released. Studies have shown high-quality citronella oil can protect you from mosquitoes as effectively as DEET.

Lemongrass

Lemongrass does a great job at masking the smell mosquitoes are attracted to, such as the carbon dioxide we exhale and the lactic acid in our sweat. The oils in lemongrass have been proven to repel 74-95% of mosquitoes when used topically.

Geraniol

Geraniol is safe to use and effective at repelling mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks. It is a compound found in the oils of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, but is the main substance in rose oil.

Rosemary

Rosemary has evolved to emit a smell that is unattractive to harmful insects including mosquitoes. The oils extracted during our formulation process work great to keep mosquitoes out of your yard.

Garlic

There is a lot of evidence that several of garlic’s 33 sulfur compounds repel mosquitoes. It’s not clear why it works, but sulfur has been used in pesticides for over 100 years in the U.S. What’s more, garlic can even kill mosquitoes if they are brave enough to ingest it.
